Find Your Place to Serve: Volunteer Opportunities at First Lutheran

At First Lutheran Church, we believe the church is more than a building—it’s a living, breathing community of people using their gifts to serve one another and glorify God. Every act of service, big or small, helps us grow together in faith, hospitality, and mission.

If you haven’t yet found your place to serve, now is a great time to jump in! Whether you enjoy working behind the scenes, up front, with people, or with technology, there’s a role just right for you. Here's a look at some of the ways you can get involved:

Lector

Love reading scripture? Lectors read the Old and New Testament lessons during worship services. If you’re comfortable speaking in front of others and have a heart for sharing God’s Word, this is a wonderful way to serve.

Usher

Ushers distribute bulletins, assist with seating, and help guide the flow of worship. This is a great role for those who enjoy making worship run smoothly and offering a helpful hand.

Greeter

Be a friendly face at the front door! Greeters welcome everyone who walks through our doors with warmth and hospitality. Your smile may be the first sign of God’s love someone experiences that day.

Choir

If you love to sing, the choir is calling your name! Join others in lifting your voice in worship. No formal training needed—just a willingness to praise God with music.

Altar Guild

Behind the scenes but deeply meaningful, the Altar Guild washes and prepares the communion dishes and maintains the altar space. A peaceful and prayerful way to serve.

Tech Team

Help bring worship to those watching from home! Our tech team assists with live streaming and sound. If you’re tech-savvy (or willing to learn), your skills are needed.

Fellowship Snacks

Help make our fellowship time feel warm and welcoming by providing snacks after worship. A small gesture that brings joy and connection to our community.

Facility Committee

Like to fix things or plan improvements? This team keeps an eye on our building and grounds, making sure everything stays safe, beautiful, and functional.

Whether you have 10 minutes a month or a few hours a week, your time and talents can make a real difference. And if you’re not sure where you fit, we’d love to help you find a role that brings you joy and purpose.
