Many of you noticed the significant water damage that recently appeared on the sanctuary ceiling. What initially appeared to be a roof leak covered under warranty was ultimately traced to leaks in the church tower. Because the source of the problem was not the roof itself, the repairs were not covered under warranty and needed to be funded by the church.
The FLC Council approved the repair project, which is being paid for entirely through donations to the Capital Fund. As a result, no additional loan funds were needed.
We are grateful to be working with Chism Brothers, who have been excellent partners throughout the process. In addition to completing the tower repairs, they have generously agreed to repair the damaged sanctuary ceiling at no additional cost.
Once the team is confident the cracks have been sealed and that all is well with the exterior, the damage to the inside ceiling of the sanctuary can be addressed. When the work is complete, the tower will not leak, the sanctuary ceiling will not look wounded, and the plastic tarp can be removed from the organ pipes.
Thank you to everyone who contributes to the Capital Fund, helping us care for and preserve our church home for years to come.
